One thing that’s become clear to me in the past year or so is that the transgender women in sports issue really matters to people. Polls tell me this, election results tell me this, and Fox News flogging the issue like a disobedient gimp in an S&M dungeon tells me this.
This baffles some people. “Aren’t we talking about a very small number of athletes?” they wonder. “And isn’t the most common negative outcome, like, getting one place lower in a high school track meet, and not, say, losing your job or getting shipped to a prison in El Salvador?” These are fair questions, but I would respond to them with three things that I’ve come to believe over the years:
